One of the foundation’s spring grant requests was by Amherst Middle School Music Teacher Patrick O’Donnell. He started the Amherst Rock Concert Orchestra (ARCO) a number years ago. One component ARCO was lacking was an ELECTRIC sound. His grant request was for 4 “Soundclip” instrument pickups. These clip to instruments and connect to amplifiers. Mr. O’Donnell sent us a thank you video featuring the Soundclips in action and the Amherst Alma Mater! Grants like this are funded through donations by Tiger Alumni.
The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. Grant Committee awarded $19,500 for requests submitted by faculty and staff for the 2022-23 school year. Grants were awarded in all four schools for academics, technology, sports, arts and special education. Grants In Action: The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. funded the purchase of t-shirts for the Women4Change Club at ACHS. The club advisor is Anne Ward, Social Studies Teacher and the club is new this year. The Empower Women t-shirts were worn throughout March (Women’s History Month) and at the Seneca Falls Summit on March 29 and 30.
