Beloved longtime coach of the Lockport Ernies softball team, Scott spent much of his life as the “Mr. Mom” to his two sons. He also earned a degree in Computer Science and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse caring for the elderly throughout the Greater Buffalo area.
In his early life, he attended Amherst Central High School class of ’78 and was a volunteer fireman with the Snyder Fire Department. His ability to make people laugh and love unconditionally will never be forgotten.
As we approach the end of another school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievements made possible by your generosity and support to the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation. I am pleased to announce that thanks to your donations, we were able to raise a remarkable $19,808.32 during the 2023-2024 school year.
One highlight that stands out this year was our ability to provide 23 grants, totaling $23,557.00, through our Grant Committee. These grants were awarded across all four schools for myriad purposes including academics, technology, sports, arts, and special education. Our recent press release highlighted the diverse range of initiatives supported by these grants, such as the Italian Exchange Program, Pit Orchestra Stand Lights, and the Adult-Student Mentoring Program, to name just a few.
It is important to note that these grants are fully funded by your generous donationsand our annual fundraising activities. Your gifts play a crucial role in supporting programs that may not be covered by the school district budget and ensure our students are provided exceptional educational opportunities during their time at Amherst, preparing them for success in all their future endeavors.
For over 20 years, the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation has awarded over $189,000 in grants thanks to the unwavering support of alumni like you. Your commitment to giving back to our community is truly commendable, and I am continually inspired by your dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
In addition to our grant program, I am excited to share that the Foundation is developing a new scholarship program aimed at further supporting the educational pursuits of deserving students. We look forward to sharing more details about this initiative in the near future.
As we continue to plan for an ambitious future of greater impact on our school district, I encourage you to stay connected with us through our website, www.amherstalumni.org, and our social media channels. Your involvement and feedback are invaluable as we work to strengthen our impact within our community.
Thank you once again for making an impact on the Amherst Central School District!
All the best,
Samantha General Class of 2007 2023-24 President, Board of Directors Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc.

Thank you to the Alumni Foundation for providing a grant to cover the cost of the bus to MJ the Musical on June 11th. Forty students and five chaperones attended the show at Shea’s and had a great time! Your continued support of our students is so appreciated.
