CHERRY – Kathryn (nee Berg)
January 15, 2022. Beloved wife of John J. “JJ” Cherry; dear mother of Emily and Sara Cherry; loving daughter of Mary Louise Barton Berg and the late Donald J. Berg; sister of Susan Berg. Friends may call at SCHLAGER DiVITO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4614 Main St., Snyder (same location of Lombardo), where the family will be present Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Please assemble 10 o’clock Saturday morning at University Presbyterian Church, 3330 Main St., at Niagara Falls Blvd., for funeral services. Masks required.

The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. Grant Committee awarded $10,000 for requests submitted by faculty and staff for the November 1, 2021 application deadline. Grants were awarded in all four schools for technology, sports, music, special education and other academics. The grants are fully funded by generous alumni donations, an annual golf outing and other fund raisers. Grants are awarded for programs that are not funded by the school district budget and are selected based on the most students that will be positively affected. The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. has awarded over $150,000 in grants over the last 18 years. SNYDER – Elizabeth F. “Betsy”
Passed away on November 9, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in 1961 in Buffalo, NY, Betsy lived most of her adult life in Pasadena, CA, where she had an Emmy-winning writing career. She is survived by her husband, Clay Marquardt, son Charlie and daughter Anne. She is also survived by her father, George L. Snyder, siblings Philip Snyder (Julie), Amy Snyder Doldo (John), George Snyder Jr. (Lidia) and Jane Snyder and step-siblings Catherine Luhr, Mary E. Luhr Johnson, Adair Luhr Kearney (Kevin), Julie Luhr, Ann Marie Luhr, John Paul Luhr Jr., Florine Luhr, and Eileen Luhr. She is predeceased by her mother, Anne Bradt Snyder, and stepmother, Leah Luhr Snyder. She will be greatly missed by the Nowaks, Hamlins, and Muglers of Buffalo, and Snyders of Ohio. A Buffalo-based celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. “Very sad news to report. Longtime Days of our Lives writing team member, Elizabeth Snyder passed away on November 9th following a brief illness.
Snyder, an Emmy-winning writer, had been with the DAYS scribe team from 2011-2021, and served as an associate head writer, breakdown writer, and script writer, during her tenure for the NBC soap opera.
DAYS current head writer, Ron Carlivati tweeted the news on Saturday sharing Snyder’s obit and expressing: “I wanted to take a moment to share with all the fans of Days of our Lives the sad news that one of our writers has passed away. Betsy was a kind, thoughtful person, a pleasure to work with and loved what she did. We already miss her very much.”
Throughout her career, Elizabeth also wrote for: One Life to Live, Another World, All My Children, Port Charles, Sunset Beach and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Snyder was born in 1961 in Buffalo, New York, and lived most of her adult life in Pasadena, California, where she had an Emmy-winning writing career.
