Grants In Action: The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. funded the purchase of t-shirts for the Women4Change Club at ACHS. The club advisor is Anne Ward, Social Studies Teacher and the club is new this year. The Empower Women t-shirts were worn throughout March (Women’s History Month) and at the Seneca Falls Summit on March 29 and 30. ACHS Principal, Gregory Pigeon had the Women4Change Club lead the school’s International Women’s Day celebration. The shirts are helping the club be more visible in the school and in their community work in the district and Western New York.
Grants like this are only possible because of generous donations from ACHS alumni. You can learn how to donate by visiting, https://www.amherstalumni.org/Donate.htm.

KOVES, ROBIN REYBURN KIRKPATRICK
Robin Koves’ life ended, on March 22, 2023, at the age of 66, after a 30-year battle arising out of Polycystic Kidney Disease. She was born on August 23, 1956, in Buffalo, NY, before immigrating to Toronto, Canada, where she put down roots and raised her family. Robin was a devoted wife and best friend to her husband, Robert, and a proud mother to her children, Jacky and Lex. She was overjoyed to see them find happiness with their partners, Matt and Sarah. Robin was also a doting grandmother (“Marmee”) to Freya, Virginia, Lander, and Simon, and cherished every moment spent with them. Robin loved family and arranged get togethers for all occasions. Whenever possible, this included sisters, brothers, cousins, and grandparents. Robin was an avid game player. She met her husband, Robert, over a backgammon board. She loved a rousing game of “Oh Hell” and was the best trivia player in the family. In addition to her role as a mother and homemaker, Robin was a key participant in the daily operation of the family business. Robin contributed much time to PEO Chapter B, a local chapter of an organization that supports women’s education, as well as Hopewell Gardens, a community gardening club, acting as the “Permanent” Treasurer for both organizations. Robin is survived by her sisters, Melanie and Holly; as well as her husband, children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She will forever be in our hearts. A Reception in Robin’s honour will be held on Saturday, April 1st, from 3-5 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to one of the following: PEO Chapter B 1.
