VINCENT – Laura J. (nee Barish) Of Amherst, entered into rest suddenly April 11, 2023. Beloved wife of Donald E. Vincent, Jr.; devoted mother of Sarah (Robert) Schmarder, Jane Ricketts, and step-mother of David M. (Becki) Vincent, Elizabeth A. (Tasker) Gundy, and Jeffrey A. Vincent; cherished grandmother of Mabel, Olive, Evangalista, Jackson, Henry, Darwin, Cora, and Thea; loving daughter of the late Benjamin and the late Betty Ann Barish; dear sister of Linda (Jack) Hohag, Cathleen (Dave Zmitrewicz) Barish, Ruthann (Alan) Greenblatt, Amy (Gust) Pullman, Beth Barish, and Laura (Willie) Pederson; also survived by many family and friends. Robin Koves’ life ended, on March 22, 2023, at the age of 66, after a 30-year battle arising out of Polycystic Kidney Disease. She was born on August 23, 1956, in Buffalo, NY, before immigrating to Toronto, Canada, where she put down roots and raised her family. Robin was a devoted wife and best friend to her husband, Robert, and a proud mother to her children, Jacky and Lex. She was overjoyed to see them find happiness with their partners, Matt and Sarah. Robin was also a doting grandmother (“Marmee”) to Freya, Virginia, Lander, and Simon, and cherished every moment spent with them. Robin loved family and arranged get togethers for all occasions. Whenever possible, this included sisters, brothers, cousins, and grandparents. Robin was an avid game player. She met her husband, Robert, over a backgammon board. She loved a rousing game of “Oh Hell” and was the best trivia player in the family. In addition to her role as a mother and homemaker, Robin was a key participant in the daily operation of the family business. Robin contributed much time to PEO Chapter B, a local chapter of an organization that supports women’s education, as well as Hopewell Gardens, a community gardening club, acting as the “Permanent” Treasurer for both organizations. Robin is survived by her sisters, Melanie and Holly; as well as her husband, children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She will forever be in our hearts. Kara Margaret Stein, age 30, of Amherst New York passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on Friday, April 14, 2023.
Kara was the beloved daughter of Mary (late Mark) Stein; loving sister of Sean and Patrick; cherished granddaughter of Margaret (late Richard) Lyons and the late Dorothy and late Theodore Stein; dear niece of Karen (Steve) Goodman, Melissa Eyeington, Rick (Sheila) Lyons, Jennifer Greco, Joseph (Debbie) Stein, Lori Stein and the late Cathy (Jerry Yates) Lyons; also survived by loving cousins and many friends. The family will be present on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the DENGLER ROBERTS PERNA FUNERAL HOME 8630 Transit Road East Amherst NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM at St. Benedict RC Church Main & Eggert Road Amherst NY. Please assemble at the Church. Class of 2010 graduate, played volleyball and softball throughout her time at Amherst and was an assistant coach to Mike Chatelle for girls varsity softball. She was a teacher at Saint Benedicts School and loved by many! She will be greatly missed! A beautiful soul.
Joyce M. Doran passed away at her home on Thursday October 7, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family by her side. She was born April 15, 1940 to parents Karl and Margaret Dewein in Buffalo, NY. She is survived by her daughters: Debi (Kevin) Wigg and Jennifer Williams; grandchildren: PJ and Courtney Ellis; great-grandsons: Zaedyn Ellis and Logan Mason; her brother, Mike (Sue) Dewein and her sister, Suzanne (Jim); and nieces & nephews. Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Michael Doran; her son, David Williams; and step-son, Matthew Doran. Joyce worked for McMillan Realty selling many families their homes in Naples, NY. She worked at the Naples High School in the office, helping many students with an ear to lend and compassion in her heart. She helped start a Naples Youth Group in the late 90’s, forming bonds with students that lasted many years. Her involvement in the Naples Rotary led her to run the Naples Trout Derby for many years, filling her with renewed excitement every year for the many participants. She loved going to Camp Onseyawa in Ovid and painting faces for the young children there, bringing them joy through her soft brush strokes on their faces. Joyce was a talented and gifted artist who painted fish for the trout derby, snowmen for the Christmas Holiday and many paintings and decorations for art shows, family and friends. She was an active member of AA with 41 years of sobriety. She has learned from, and helped, so many people. They are an extension of her own family. She always had a song in her heart, a smile on her face, an ear to listen and advice to give. She will be truly missed. Forever in our hearts. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 3:00pm, led by Karl Warrington, at Rose Ridge Cemetery, 8346 W. Hollow Rd., Naples, NY 14512. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. Oct. 23, 2021 from 3pm – 8pm a the Bristol Valley Theatre/Naples Fire Hall -Vine Street Block Party- Music, food, family, friends & memories; please bring a written memory with you to share with the family.
