Grants in Action! Earlier in the school year, the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation awarded a grant to Middle School Teacher Ms. Whitten for a beautification project to enhance the 6th grade hall at the school. She kindly sent us a thank you and images of the completed project. It’s through donations from Tiger Alumni that allow to fund projects like this.

The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. Grant Committee awarded $21,800 for requests submitted by faculty and staff for the March 1, 2022 application deadline. Grants were awarded in all four schools for academics, technology, sports, arts, and special education. Among the grants awarded were $8700.00 for a new sound system for the two elementary schools, $1200.00 for Girls High School Flag Football, Web leader T Shirts for the Middle School and $6560.00 for a new sports scorer’s table for the high school.
The grants are fully funded by generous alumni donations, an annual golf outing and other fund raisers. Grants are awarded for programs that are not funded by the school district budget and are selected based on the most students that will be positively affected. The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. has awarded over $150,000 in grants over the last 18 years. As part of the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation’s grant program, we help fund various student activities throughout the school district. The foundation will also receive some material we like to share with alumni about the grants we fund. One of the programs funded this year was a trip by Amherst Middle School 6th graders to the Central Library in downtown Buffalo.

Good Afternoon,
I would like to take a moment to say thank you to the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation committee for providing us the opportunity to take our students to the Buffalo Central Library. Attached you will find a few photos of our students engaging in the various activities offered by the librarians at the central library. The trip was a huge success.

As part of the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation’s grant program, we help fund various programs to help create opportunities throughout the school district. The foundation will periodically receive material highlighting what one of our grants helped accomplish. One of the grants we funded was will allow Caroline Smith, junior at Amherst Central High School, to attend the Empire Girls State forum over the summer.
