The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation is helping the arts in Amherst Schools by offering seat dedications on the back of seats in the Theodore L. Masterson Auditorium in the high school. Funds raised go directly to programs in the school through our foundation grant program.

Your donation includes an engraved name plate on a seat in the auditorium. You can dedicate a seat to yourself, a family member, loved one, business, etc.

1977 Amherst Graduate and Los Angeles-based billionaire Jeffrey Gundlach pledged $42.5 million to the Albright-Knox

(By Colin Dabkowski – Buffalo.com) Albright-Knox Art Gallery has raised more than $100 million for its expansion project in less than three months, spurred in large part by a $42.5 million pledge from billionaire bond-trader and Western New York native Jeffrey Gundlach.

The commitment from the Los Angeles-based investment guru, set to be announced Friday, is likely the largest single private donation to a cultural institution in Western New York history.

In honor of the gift, the Albright-Knox board voted this week to change the gallery’s name to the Buffalo Albright-Knox-Gundlach Art Museum, or the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for short, upon its completion

FOUR CHOSEN TO RECEIVE ACAF, INC. DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS

On October 20, 2016 the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. will celebrate four of its most successful alumni by adding their names to the new Alumni Wall of Fame.

Dr. John Schriver ’55 – nationally recognized in the area of emergency medicine. Dr. Schriver helped establish two academic departments of emergency medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and Oregon Health Sciences University. Most recently Dr. Schriver was professor of Emergency Medicine, George Washington University Hospital, Washington DC.

Gary Ginsberg ’80 – lawyer, American political operative and corporate advisor who worked as a lawyer in the Clinton White House. After a time at George magazine and News Corporation, he is currently VP at Time Warner in NYC.

Anne Harding Joyce ’70 – Past President of the ACAF, Inc. and instrumental in building the new Amherst Central High School field & track.  Anne has served on numerous boards including Buffalo Prep, Buffalo Olmstead Park Conservancy, Goodwill Industries, Rainbow Lake Association in Franklin County NY, and the Garret Club.

Tom Hambridge ’79 – Grammy winning singer, songwriter, producer and drummer. Tom’s production work includes duets or solo projects with Eric Clapton, Keith Urban, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Kid Rock, BB King, and many others. Tom performed three times for the President at the White House.

RETIRED FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE ALUMNI’S HIGHEST HONOR

Nancy Riccio, Kenneth Butka, Fred Machemer and Cleta Schermerhorn (posthumously) are this year’s honorees. They were nominated by former students.

The Distinguished Alumni & Educator Awards reception will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 5:30-7:30 at the Fairdale Banquet Center, 672 Wehrle Drive, Amherst, NY 14225. The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation is Accepting Grant Applications

The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation, Inc. (ACAF) is now accepting grant requests for the fall of 2016. The application deadline is October 1st, 2016.

The ACAF Grant Committee strives to award grants that benefit the most students in the Amherst School District. Teachers and staff in the district are encouraged to apply if they have a funding need.
