ZIELINSKI – Genevieve G. (nee Pokrywczynski)

Of Clarence, NY July 25, 2019. Wife of the late John A. Zielinski; beloved mother of Dennis (Mary Lou) Zielinski; loving grandmother of Timothy (Heather), Brandon M.D. (Jennifer), Gregory and Tamra (Peter Vlasak) Zielinski; great-grandmother of Maya, Aiden and Calan; sister of Elaine (late James Sr.) Horn, late Chester (late Gertrude) Covers and the late Eugene (late Emily) Pokrywczynski; also survived by many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Auntie Gene. Visitation Sunday, 3-7 PM at the Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapels, inc., 4680 Clinton St. (corner Borden Rd.), West Seneca, 668-5666, where funeral will be held Monday, 8:15 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Gabriel’s Church at 9 o’clock. Genevieve was a longtime school teacher at Amherst Harlem Rd. School and a proud member of the Chopin Singing Society.

18th Annual Alumni Golf Classic: Photos and a Thank You

Our 18th Annual Alumni Golf Classic was a wonderful event. The weather was perfect. The golfing was great. A good times was had by all. More importantly, the event is one of the largest fundraisers for the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation each year. Thank you to all of our alumni, Amherst Central School District staff and sponsors who supported the golf classic this year. A special thank you to our Golf Committee. They work tirelessly each year organizing the event.

Conrad Kiesel, retired Amherst Central Schools teacher at Junior High.

KIESEL – Conrad P. June 5, 2019, age 89. Beloved husband of Margaret M. (nee Reidy) Kiesel; loving father of Mimi Smigielski, Kathleen K. Flemming, Peter C. (Susan), Mary Beth, Molly and Peggy Kiesel; cherished grandfather of John, Kristen, Mindy (Tim), Jimmy, Emily (Jack), Katie, Matthew and Kathryn; caring brother of Virginia (late Vincent) Shary, Sr. Marcell Kiesel, OSF and the late Sr. Celia Kiesel, OSF and Anthony (Patricia) Kiesel; also survived by nieces and nephews. The family will be present on Friday from 4-7 PM at the (Harris Hill Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8440 Main Street, Clarence, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM. Friends invited. Special Silent Auction for the Amherst Central Alumni Foundation

In anticipation of our upcoming 18th Annual Alumni Golf Classic, the Alumni Foundation is holding a special online silent auction offering up two Any Day Flex Grounds Tickets to next week’s, May 21st thru 26th, 2019 Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester. The tickets were graciously donated to us by Amherst alumnae, Lindsay Wolfe ’77.  The funds raised will go to our Foundation Grant Program. 

The grants are fully funded by generous alumni donations, an annual golf outing and other fund raisers. This year’s Golf Outing will be July 25, 2019 at Glen Oak Golf Course. Grants are awarded for programs that are not funded by the school budget and are selected based on the most students that will be positively affected. The Alumni Foundation has awarded over $100,000 in grants to the school district since 2003.
