The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation’s Grant Committee awarded $9,440 for applications submitted by faculty and staff for the March 1 deadline and $4,200 for requests in October of 2018. Grants were awarded in all four schools for academics, music, sports, and technology.
The grants are fully funded by generous alumni donations, an annual golf outing and other fund raisers. This year’s Golf Outing will be July 25, 2019 at Glen Oak Golf Course. Grants are awarded for programs that are not funded by the school budget and are selected based on the most students that will be positively affected. The Alumni Foundation has awarded over $100,000 in grants to the Amherst Central School District since 2003.
An additional $11,286 in grants was awarded from the Alternative Funding Committee to upgrade the Middle School pool, a speaker system for the track, and student related awards. These grants are funded through the contributions of alumni, parents, and vendors.
