Jennifer Koeppel-Acker likes to talk about her running, and she loves to talk about her coaching.
The two combined to make 2014 a very good year for her.
Koeppel-Acker cut back on her race schedule somewhat in 2014, concentrating on other aspects of her life. It all came together nicely as she still won her second championship in The Buffalo News Runner of the Year series. Koeppel-Acker previously had taken the title in 2012.
“It was a fun year,” she said about the running part of 2014. “I started feeling pretty good this summer after starting back at it after last winter. I took it easier, and had more fun in training. I was more or less injury-free.”
When Koeppel-Acker ran, she was clearly one of the best in Western New York. She took part in five series races, winning two of them in very different distances (the GBTC Grand Island Half Marathon and the Linda Yalem Safety Run 5K). Koeppel-Acker finished second in her other three races. That was good enough to finish ahead of Allison Carr in the series. Koeppel-Acker also took the 30-34 age-group championship.
