Kevin B. McNamara, 79, of East Amherst, died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2020.
Mr. McNamara was born on Jan. 11, 1941. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1958 and then went to the University of Alabama, where he was a walk-on for Bear Bryant. He attended St. Bonaventure University, where he received a master’s degree in leadership. Mr. McNamara also attended Harvard and graduated from their executive MBA program.
Mr. McNamara married Gail L. Chamberlain in 1962. Together, they had two daughters and four grandchildren.
Mr. McNamara owned Millington Lockwood Inc. from 1971 to 2002 and worked alongside his wife. The year he purchased Millington Lockwood, annual sales were approximately half a million dollars a year. When it was sold in 2002, sales were close to $12 million a year. This was a testament to his hard work and dedication. All of Mr. McNamara’s hard work paid off in 1987, when he was selected by Herman Miller Inc. to travel to China. He was asked to do this to give his input on an agreement to purchase textiles.
After owning Millington Lockwood for over 30 years, he retired. Though retirement did not slow him down. Mr. McNamara continued to work as a salesman at Lockwood, teach at Fredonia State, and became a member of the School of Business advisory board at St. Bonaventure. He also loved spending time with his family at his cottage in Bay Beach, Canada. Nothing made him happier than a full beach house with family and friends.
Mr. McNamara was also a past member at the Rotary Club of Buffalo, The Buffalo Club, Park Country Club, and board of directors at Consumer Credit Counseling, where he served as a secretary. He was also a member at the Buffalo Canoe Club.
Mr. McNamara was a leader, hard worker and a dedicated family man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Gail L. McNamara; two children, Susan Hurley and Nancy Serr; four grandchildren; and one sibling, Ellen McNamara.
