Kelsey Sorensen was diagnosed with Severe Pancreatitis and in 2019 doctors at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital preformed a TPIAT procedure/transplant. She had this lifesaving Islet Transplant after undergoing a Total Pancreatectomy where her Pancreas, Spleen, Appendix, and Gallbladder were removed. As a result she is now a Type 3c Diabetic which makes her insulin dependent and dependent on an insulin pump for the rest of her life. Local volunteers are raising and estimated $50,000 for Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) in honor of Kelsey, for her lifetime.
A benefit in Kelsey’s honor will be held at the Main Transit Fire Department Banquet Facility on Saturday, October 16, from 1:00to 6:00 p.m. If you can provide a donation in the form of a gift certificate, gift card, basket raffle or silent auction items, please contact Kathy Oliver at 8183697 or mail to 30 Harwood Dr., Snyder, NY 14226.
Secure donations are accepted online at www.COTAforKelseysJourney.com.
