Jeffrey C. Higgins, of Amherst, NY entered into rest on April 4, 2025 at age 70.
Loving son of the late Dorothy and William Higgins Jr.; dear brother of Mary Higgins Enright, Marguerite (Lynette Cornell) Higgins and the late William “Billy” Higgins III; cherished uncle of Thomas Enright and Liz (Mike) Van Dyke; adored great-uncle of Aidan, Cooper, Avery and Caroline.
Jeff was a successful engineer and the owner of Higgins Erectors and Haulers. He was an avid supporter of the arts and enjoyed gardening.
No prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Amherst Community Church, 77 Washington Hwy., Amherst, NY 14226 on Thursday (April 10, 2025) at 10am. A reception will follow.

Jan. 3, 1937-Nov. 28, 2024, of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Williamsville and Buffalo, NY. Beloved wife of the late Jerome (Jerry) Fleischman. Dearest daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (nee Rydzynski) Baker. Survived by many cousins and friends.
A graduate of the Buffalo Seminary, Kathy earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SUNY Buffalo. Kathy was a dedicated teacher of mathematics at Amherst Central Junion High and Middle School for 34 years, having retired at the end of the 1992 school year.. Also, a talented pianist, Kathy taught piano to many young students in Buffalo, proud to hold recitals at Kleinhans Music Hall to showcase their talent. Over the years, Kathy enjoyed playing bridge, writing short stories, entertaining family and friends and traveling the world.

John R. Adam, 69, of Wenham, MA, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sayre, PA, and raised in Amherst, NY, John was the son of the late John J. and Phyllis (Martin) Adam. John was a graduate of Amherst Central High School and later attended Ashland College in Ohio. John went on to have a successful career as a mortgage banker.
It was in his personal life where John truly shined. He spent most of his adult life on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where he cultivated a love for boating. John had a keen eye for design and was passionate about the homes he created. He was known for his enthusiasm in the kitchen, always eager to share a meal and a laugh with those he loved.
To John, his friends were family. His sense of humor and infectious personality made him a friend to many, and he had a unique ability to make anyone feel welcome. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought to those around him.
John’s family was of great importance to him. He is survived by his wife, Heidi (Zenger) Adam, whom he married in 2010. John is also survived by his beloved daughter, Alexandra Adam, and son-in-law, David Chattman, his stepdaughter, Ellis Hargadon, whom he lovingly referred to as his “bonus daughter”, as well as his sister, Lisa Adam. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan (Augello) Adam, who passed away in 2005. John and Susan were married in 1980 and share a daughter, Alexandra.
A Memorial and Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 11am on January 11, 2025 at Myopia Hunt Club.
