This email was sent out to the district yesterday by Anthony Panella, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, on the passing of Amherst Middle School teacher Larry Grisafi.
The Amherst Central Alumni Foundation sends its heartfelt condolences to the Grisafi family and all affected by his death.
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I write you knowing that one of our current teachers, Larry Grisafi, passed away on Sunday. Larry was a valued teacher at Amherst Middle School since 1997; originally teaching sixth grade before moving to seventh grade in 2000 (social studies). Larry was a passionate, student centered teacher and proud family man. He loved his wife and children dearly. He spoke with great pride about his family; conveying the same messages of honesty, respect, compassion, responsibility and hard work from his dinner table to his students and colleagues.
Larry, like many of us, considered Amherst to be his second family. He arrived early and stayed late to make sure his performance met the standard he set for himself. Like any family that experiences a loss we will have our questions, doubts and moments of uncertainty. But, through it all we will have each other; and for that I am grateful.
Larry’s family will be present to receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM for a memorial gathering at the Castiglia Funeral Home located at 873 Abbott Road, Buffalo, NY, 14220. A memorial mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Tonawanda, NY, on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:45 AM.
Contributions may be made in memory of Larry Grisafi to Hospice Buffalo, Inc.
Sincerely,
Tony
